In 1952 from Oct 7 to Oct 12, the 1st Sun Tour was launched. While doing a bit of a clean-up at home I found this poorly printed (photo copied) publication in my archives, produced by the founder of the Sun Tour, Laurie Jones. In the first page Jones explains As I was its originator, I was, and am, the only person qualified to tell the story in detail. He published this journal in 1986 just before the 35th staging of the event. That year it finished at Brenock Park velodrome at Ferntree Gully and was won by Keith Rowley. Within the back pages is a hand written task list dated Sep 27, 1952 of items that were still to be attended to. Who out there can tell us more about Laurie Jones, the man that claims to be the founder of the Sun Tour.
