In 1959 the people of the Mambilla Plateau massively voted the be part of the Cameroon Republic after being left without giving us independent, and they were later convinced by the late Premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello the Sardauna of Sokoto to vote in the second of plebiscite 1961 in favor of Nigeria, Therefore by that 2nd plebiscite and document by the UN we are citizens by that special declaration. which as a result today we are neither here nor there, as everywhere you go you are seen as a Cameroonian. While the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended 2011 in Chapter 3 citizenship Section 25 CITIZENSHIP BY BIRTH (1) The following persons are citizens of Nigeria by birth (a) every person born in Nigeria before the date of independence, either of whose parents or any of whose grand parents belonged to a community indigenous to Nigeria Provided that a person shall not become a citizen of Nigeria by virtue of this section if neither of his parents nor any of his grandparents was born in Nigeria (b) every person born in Nigeria after the date of independence either of whose parents or any of whose grandparents is a citizen of Nigeria ; and (c) every person born outside Nigeria either of whose parents is a citizen of Nigeria (2) the date of independence means the 1st day of October 1960 Section 31 PERSONS DEEMED TO BE NIGERIAN CITIZENS For the purposes of this Chapter, a parent or grandparents of a person shall be deemed to be a citizen of Nigeria if at the time of the birth of that person such parents or grandparents would have possessed that status by birth if he had been alive on the date of independence; and in this section, the date of independence has the meaning assigned to it in section 25 (2) of this constitution. Which was raised recently by Hon. El-Sudi in the National Assembly makes maters much more complicated. Though our LG is listed among the the LGs in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as Amended 2011. NOW THE QUESTION IS: our joining Nigeria, has it yield any meaningful results in terms of DEVELOPMENT (human material) and POLITICAL RECOGNITION???
