In 1961 Australia was declared the first Western post Christian culture. Ever since, the mainstream church in our nation has compromised itself and tried desperately to achieve relevance. This has led to a passiveness, an ignorance and reluctance to proclaim the gospel and to attest to the truth. I would suspect this Christian group are of that type who are still trying for relevance. Matt Anslow - get off the fence and get into some warming waters, a roiling foment where Christians are dying for the truth you seem to think is a political football. The issue isnt asylum seekers as some amorphous whole but WHO genuinely qualifies for our largesse. A real Christian should be advocating for the victims of Islamic persecution....not queue jumpers who hold steadfastly to the very ideology they claim to be fleeing. There are days when I am ashamed to be a Christian, even as I label myself a very small c christian,, not because of its truth but because of those who glibly assume the name. I am disgusted and frustrated by this ill-considered bluster. Time for real Christianity to assert itself, or we are doomed.
