In 1971, an album titled Helene & Marc was recorded at Veritable Studios and released to the public. It was clear from the beginning that hearts were touched by the depth of the songs, the layered harmonies and Helenes beautiful voice. Nevertheless, the album quickly faded into oblivion and so did Helene & Marc. A couple years ago, I placed several Helene & Marc songs on YouTube, even though I figured no one would be interested in listening to them. I was wrong. Through personal messages and emails, Ive received comments from people living in Scotland, Belgium, Ireland, New York and elsewhere, telling me how much they love the Helene & Marc music. Several asked me, actually urged me, to re-release the album. I dont think I have the resources to make that happen but well see. There appears to be one song that touched people the most. Its a song composed the same year Sandy Denny released her first album. As Ive written in an earlier post, I consider Sandy one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever, with a voice like no other. Nonetheless, theres something about this Helene & Marc song that reminds me of those great Sandy Denny songs, maybe because of Helenes beautiful voice. And so, here is a song recorded in 1971 at the Veritable Recording Studio in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, and somehow it doesnt surprise me that Scottish-Irish music lovers have told me its their favorite. Maybe youll enjoy listening to Time.
