In 1974 ‘Life Is A Rock’ (But The Radio Rolled Me) by Reunion & released on RCA would peak at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 & it’s this weeks 1 HIT WONDER! Reunion was not a real group but a bunch of studio musicians led by lead singer Joey Levine. Levine was also the lead singer for Ohio Express which had a #4 song ‘Yummy, Yummy, Yummy in 1968. Life Is A Rock is a song that mentions various recording artists, songs, record labels & deejays & ties them together with the chorus. As with many songs back then that had the word ‘Radio’ in the lyrics, several radio stations had customized versions recorded replacing radio with their call letters or moniker. Locally Q102 had such a version. I still find it difficult to keep up with even with the lyrics in front of me. Levine specialized in bubblegum music but also wrote jingles for commercials. His most popular being ‘Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut’ for Mounds & Almond Joy.
