In 1977, I was attending Mountain Warfare Training School at Pickle Meadows, Bridgeport , California. We got 3 days of liberty during the training and, as young Marines tend to do, I joined some buddies of mine and headed to various dens of ill repute in Northern California and Nevada in a 1968 Chevrolet Impala that two of my friends, Navy Corpsman Lonnie Sheldon and Monte Orcutt had purchased for $125.00. It was a great car but the radio did not work. So Lonnie, Monte, me and another Marine named Mike Smith, hit the road with a chest full of iced beer. Since the radio did not work, we had to rely on the 8-Trak player - and we had only one 8-Trak tape - Bob Segers Greatest Hits Volume 1. We played that tape over and over and over those three days. I didnt even know who Bob Seger was until that weekend and became a lifelong fan as a result. Now, the things we saw and the mischief we partook in, is not something I will put here for family and friends to read. But it was a 3 dayer that I will never forget! Below is a youtube link to my favorite Bob Seger song thanks to that old 8-Trak. https://youtube/watch?v=XAbY2cmEsS0
