In 1979 I was part of a cattle call for an audience for an upcoming TV series called Sweepstakes. Packed into a small, aging, soon to close movie theater, we spent the day yelling and screaming, pretending to be excited about something (anything). For my efforts I was paid $20 and given a sack lunch. I never watched the show, but even my mother admitted that,though she tried to watch it, it was unwatchable.
