In 1982 i worked at the record department of a shop in my hometown. Every week on thursday the new records came in. So i remember that on one of those days a box arrived with the latest albums (vinyl) and i unpacked them. Looking at all the new albums there was one sleeve that really did absorb my attention. At that time i was not aware that George had a new album coming up so i was happy surprised to see that this beautiful sleeve belonged to the new George Harrison album. Gone Troppo has a sleeve that makes me happy , maybe because yellow is my favorite colour. The first time i played it that night i loved it from start to finish and through the years the album started to mean much to me. I never understood why people were so rude about this album, really , the amount of unrespectful things in the press was aweful. Most of the album is really sunny and positive , songs like Greece and the titel track sound very up. My favorites are Mystical One and Dream Away George worked with Dave Mattacks on some of the songs and i m glad i can mention him again here. What do you think of this album Mr. Mattacks ? This album really benefits from the remastering as it sounds very crisp and clear. So this is my personal connection , a truly wonderful album that deserves to be heard. Wim de Lang
