In 1985, Tony Scott (RIP) established the look of the Jerry Bruckheimer/Don Simpson film with TOP GUN (released 1986). Since then. Michael Bay has compounded on that look while in the employ of Bruckheimer, and even Bruckheimers TV series use that look. Even Ridley Scott (Tonys brother) adopted that look for his Bruckheimer produced BLACKHAWK DOWN (Don Simpson passed away prior to Michael Bays ascendance due to his own excesses -- read all about it in the book High Concept). Just wanted to note that Tony Scott was far more influential than hes given credit for. Far more than the popcorn Director hes noted for, he established the Bruckehimer franchise, honestly. RIP Tony... you are missed.
