In 1986 we were selling a ton of Fuji Blvd XC bikes. They were at the $450 price point and just what the customers were looking for. They were also Suntours last hurrah…..Shimanos index shifting had just appeared. On a sunny day a guy around 40 walks in with a brand-new looking Blvd XC with a shop decal from the other Fuji dealer in San Francisco. I just got this for $75 bucks! he says. Its hot says I. No, I live on a boat and my neighbor bought it. Right away it fell off the boat into 75 feet of water. The neighbor told me it was mine for $75. So he paid the neighbor, put on his scuba gear, and fetched the bike off the bottom. The next day he comes in with the bike again….Check this out he says, squeezing the brake lever. The entire bike was frozen solid with rust. You couldnt turn the crank, the chain was immobile. Bikes and salt water do not do well together! So he says Fix me up with a new one. Its a great bike!
