In 1990 I was fortunate to see the giant leatherback turtle come ashore and lay eggs at the beach at Rantau Abang on the east coast of peninsular Malaysia. In 2014 the leatherbacks are seldom seen but tonight I had the same experience with the somewhat smaller green turtle at Pantai Mak Nik a few kilometers further south.
