In 1997 original extreme skydiver Patrice de Gayardon experimented with an unprecedented stunt: Jump from one airplane in flight and free fall into another airplane as it dove to the ground. The stunt was to test a scene for the upcoming James Bond movie, The World is Not Enough where Bond would jump from one aircraft into a crashing aircraft and gain control of it. The original concept was for de Gayardon to stunt double as actor Pierce Brosnan, who played James Bond in the movie. The scene was never developed despite de Gayardons success. An earlier Bond movie had featured a rather poor blue-screen version in Golden Eye. Tragically, de Gayardon was killed in a skydiving wing suit accident the next year in Hawaii.
