In 1999, my mom transformed herself from a stay-at-home mom to pursue her passion of educating kids. She opened a bilingual(French & English) school in Cotonou, Benin and started from Pre-K and now it goes to 12 grade with a coed hostel that hosts kids mostly from West Africa. Education isnt free in Africa & parents have to deem it necessary & essential amongst all other things to send their kids to school. Sometimes, they cant pay their fees and my mom mostly refuses to expel them. In her own words Its not their fault and every child deserves an education. Its the duty of the parents and the right of the child. Its been 15 hard years and she shows no sign of stopping. I am so proud of her and her work.
