In 1st grade at Chugiak Elementary, my teacher was Mrs. Kretsinger, she was pretty and had dark hair and nice to me and I remember seeing her one night pushing a shopping cart at the old Carrs grocery in Eagle River, I thought that was really cool; in 2nd grade in Chugiak, I had Mrs. Peterson, she was older and wore glasses and she was nice to me; in 3rd grade in England, AR, my teacher was Mrs. Cobb and she was nice to me, and and she gave me a challenge that if I didnt miss any spelling words , I would get a prize (unfortunately, I hated model cars and my brother ended up with the prize); in 4th grade, at Rabbit Creek Elementary in south Anchorage, Mrs. Patricia Dalthorp had sandy colored hair and was nice to me except when she insisted I go outside in subzero degree weather so she could have a break, she challenged me with color coded SRA reading levels and to improve my handwriting since our moving had caused me to miss the year it was being taught in both Alaska (3rd) and Arkansas (2nd); in 5th grade Mrs. Emerson at Rabbit Creek was a wonderful teacher with gray hair and I made all As under her tutelage and I gave her a mop, a bucket, and cleaning supplies for her retirement; in 6th grade, everyone at Rabbit Creek knew my teacher hated boys. I dont remember her name, but she wore her hair in a bun and was very mean to boys; the second semester of 6th, we stayed with my moms folks and went to a country school named Wilson between Henryetta and Okmulgee, OK. My teacher was Miss Guyla Owen who taught my dad in 1st grade. She made sure we learned our Southern manners and said Yes, Maam and recited The Lords Prayer every day. Well, that about wraps up the low down on my elementary teachers. Suffice it to say, that 6th grade teacher with a bun who hated boys better be glad I cant remember the names of people who are mean to me or I might have written a country song about here ala Taylor Swift or I would have at least announced her name to the entire Facebook world. Teachers out there, be nice to your students cuz you never know when there is a little Reggie just ready to be writing about you one day.
