In 2 John, the apostle John calls himself the elder and is most - TopicsExpress

In 2 John, the apostle John calls himself the elder and is most likely writing to a local congregation that he was close to. He tells them of his love for them and his desire for God to give them grace, mercy, and peace. The apostle is happy to see some of the members “walking in the truth”, more specifically an original commandment to love one another. And love is to live a life obedient to Gods commandments, as the original command states, you must walk in love. There are a lot of phonies in the world who do not believe Jesus became a flesh and blood man. Watch out and be careful around these guys so they don’t lead you down a path away from the word of God. John’s desire is that we finish well and receive our full reward. John tells us that those who do not adhere to Christ’s teachings but decide to add to it do not have God. If someone comes around who does not teach the true word of God, but teaches a false doctrine, do not welcome them into your home or let them have any foothold at all; otherwise you will be sharing in their evil work. John wants to say many other things but doesn’t want to do so in writing. He desires to see them face to face and enjoy their time together. He sends greetings from a sister church
