In 2006, we were told to not fight for black issues so that we could focus on being strong advocates, and we did it. In 2010, we were told to not bring up black Milwaukees issues because we had to win over out state voters, and we lost. In 2011, we were told once again to stand in solidarity so that we could win back the state, and we ended up getting more of the same. And now, in 2014, youre once again asking us to not point out that the candidate of choice is weak on our issues? Sorry. Its a new day. Our community will never get better until we embrace our power and demand more. We will no longer be relegated to the margins of the political conversation. Address our issues head on, meet our demands, or lose our vote. O
