In 2007, as Andrew battled Leukemia (AML) on the East Coast, Christian Barker battled Leukemia (ALL) on the West Coast. Andrew and Christian were both 14 years old. Both boys loved soccer. Our family knew of Christians battle and Christians family knew of Andrews. Christian passed away December 29, 2007 - 5 months after Andrew. Christians family started the Gold Rush Cure Foundation to provide direct family support and advocate for funding for childhood cancer research. They have a program called Pot of Gold that provides a gift basket, specific to each individual childs wants and desires, to children with cancer to let them know people care about them.
