In 2009 I still recall, when I travelled home with my little kids. .. my daughter and son were 4yrs and 2yrs old respectively. . we went to attend and listen to their grandfathers inaugural lecture as a Research Professor at the University of North West in Potchefstroom.... my kids might not recall but I remember sitting in that tense environment as their grandfather bravely presented his Remembering the organic intellectual in the mirror in front of the classic white Afrikaneer intellectuals as he differed with the Universitys policy on diversity. . it is one of the moments in my life I will never forget, it was a practical demonstration of my fathers true commitment to black peoples struggles at that highly academic platform. .. and that moment ignited a true consciousness in me, in particular the Sara Baartman metaphor in the question and name of diversity!..... Sechaba Mahlomaholo, University of Free State refers to him as the jewel of education. ... he remains the best...
