In 2009, I was preparing to bid goodbye to yet another Dental school. I, then received a message from a former student saying that there was a vacant position at the college where she was working at the time. This dental school was situated at a picturesque location. You may choose any direction to go for a drive and you are bound to end up facing a dam or a forest. But today, I have an altogether different story to present here. The above mentioned student was a Christian and I, a Muslim. The dental school was run by a Church too. It was a predominantly Christian populated area. The experience was one of a kind. Most of my students, colleagues and neighbours were all Christians. I want to thank Appachan who looked out for me, always. Appu, his grandson and my guiding light in the forests. Eldhose, whose impeccable driving carried me across the serene locales between the college and the railway station. Yes, sometimes I did have to keep a track of the names due to the innumerable Eldhoses and Basils in this part of the world, where every new Eldhose you meet is sweeter than the previous one. Kothamangalam, for me, was not just another routine work place. It is a memory that I will treasure for quite a while to come. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!
