In 2010 I remember sitting in a small Holiday Inn Express hotel room in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana with Philip Glass and Godfrey Reggio. I showed them a 9-minute reel of infrared black-and-white footage that Dustin Kukuk and I had been shooting in the Atchafalaya swamps over the previous several days. About ten of us sat in my hotel room on the beds, couches and floor, in the dark, and watched the footage play on my 28-inch Dell computer monitor. After the screening, as we walked to a nearby restaurant, Philip Glass walked closer to me and said, I cant wait to start composing music to those images you just showed us. Imagine how I felt to hear those words! Fast forward a couple years and it was one of the great treats of my life to see those images we found in the swamp moving on a giant screen over Philips mesmerizing original score, performed live by a 71-piece Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
