In 2012, we had a warm & sunny picnic lunch high in the Smoky Mts.. Then Hurricane Sandy arrived & dumpted 27 of snow in that same area only 2 days later. Now, in 2014, we returned for another picnic in the Smoky Mts. on this past Thursday. Temps. were in 60s & sunny ..now look ...... same area .. ** WINTER STORM WARNING ** Remains in effect until 1 am EST Sun.... Snow accumulations between 6-12 are expected for most locations above 2,500. Locally higher amts. up to 18 + possible across the higher peaks above 5,000. Elevations below 2,500 should receive between 2 & 4.
