In 2014, I was asked to take in eight senior wieners. After - TopicsExpress

In 2014, I was asked to take in eight senior wieners. After explaining my conditions for helping them (the animal had to be brought to me), only three of those eight managed to make it here. Of those three, one has already left for the Rainbow Bridge. Charlie arrived on May 16th, brought to me by her owners. Kasea and Suni arrived on July 18, also brought to me by the owners. Of the other five, two were euthanized, one found a new home in their area, one found sanctuary with a real rescue and the last one... the last one bothers me more than any of the others. The last one had transport to me refused by the group that her savior had asked to help because I wouldnt jump through their hoops. I cant fault them for having a policy in place for providing their assistance to these animals, but I can fault them for their inflexibility in applying it. Especially since they werent even responsible for the decision on where the animal would be going... the rescuer had already made that decision and for the transport to second guess them with their own set of hoops for me to jump through was just wrong, in my opinion. I never learned what happened to her, but I hope shes well, wherever she may be now. Sadly, I also lost four of my beloved seniors. Five, if you include the loss of Lucky the Senior Citizen, who had gone to a new home just prior to Thanksgiving, 2013, after almost nine years stuck with me. He may have been in a new home, but that little old man was very special to me and I was devastated when I learned of his departure. Cindy-Lou was allowed to rest on January 31st. Oscar left me on April 28th. Paulie departed on June 1st Suni, who arrived with Kasea on July 18th, left on September 11th. I now have eight senior wieners in residence at the Retirement Home For Senior Wieners: Webster, Charlie, Skeeter, Peanut, Harley, Kasea, Rose and Shelito (a.k.a. George) and I will do my best to ensure theyre happy and comfortable for whatever time Im allowed to continue caring for them. ~Senior Wiener
