In 2015, if youre new to Strength Training our advice is to focus on mastering the basics. Dont worry about post activation potential, microdosing you own pre-workout supplement or the latest fitness gadget fad if youre eating crisp sandwiches and play video games until 4am during the week. The right mindset is a good starting point. Strength Training is a long term pursuit that will develop your character and strengthen you as a person if approached correctly. In 2014, we were fortunate enough to produce substantially more champions in Powerlifting than every other gym in Belfast combined (well be blowing our own trumpet more in 2015). Something weve noticed from all the best performing females and males we work with is that they are: A) Humble. B) Friendly. C) Dont worry about what other people are doing, especially on the internet. We see the same things in our members who are resolved to changing their lives but have no intentions of taking part in a competition. Remember, success leaves clues - study and learn from those who have walked the path and have been humbled by how hard it is. Great quote from one of our favorite articles of 2014: For some reason in the past year or so, it has become incredibly popular to compare lifting weights to war, Armageddon, the Holocaust, going to battle, and a bunch of other violent metaphors, most of which center around comparing your training and competing to participating in a brutal conflict, death, and violence.... ...Time for a reality check. You are lifting weights! ...You are lifting metal poles with circular pieces of metal attached to them while lifting other pieces of metal with handles. This doesn’t automatically make you a modern day Spartan warrior among men. It makes you someone who lifts weights. We are resolved to cutting through the noise of Facebook/internet to help make feel, perform and look stronger this year - to make sure you dont miss any posts, join the mailing list here.
