In 24 hours, Russia-Pakistan sign a defense deal, followed by Modi inviting Obama for Indias Republic Day celebrations, which he accepted, becoming the 1st US President to participate in the event. Russia-India and US-Pak have been old allies and this is a dramatic change we are seeing. During the Cold war era, Indias positioning, that of a Democratic country was closer to US than Russia and hence it was a natural ally, however due to Nehrus yet another failed policy, India chose to remain neutral (Non aligned) to any bloc but covertly tied with USSR (former Russia). Commie Nehrus daughter Indira did a step better to enhance relations with USSR. USA wanted to ally with India as it was a dominant player in South Asia and also a counter to China but Chacha Nehrus moves ensured that USA took Pak in its lap. An opportunity was missed. Now we are seeing realignment of these forces. One one hand we have US and the allied NATO power, one other bloc we have is of Japan-Australia-India-Israel which China terms as the Asian NATO.
