In 2nd grade, I was sharpening my pencil and went back to sit - TopicsExpress

In 2nd grade, I was sharpening my pencil and went back to sit down, when we heard the police sirens. I saw this skinny dude running to our open door. I saw that he was holding a knife. I got up and quickly made my way to the door. I knew that it had to be tugged on really hard to shut, so as I see my teacher FROZEN in fear, I breathed in deep and tugged on the door. I have been door monitor before so I knew I could do it. So, he is cutting across the yard, he is gaining momentum and I am walking really fast toward him but I knew I had to be quicker to get to my destination, I grab the handle, tug hard, and see him coming. Starting to freak out now a bit because the door is closing slower than I remember, but right as soon as he gets to the door, it clicks shut! Whew, he stops, looks at me, a bit upset, a bit impressed, the police are on running toward him, he leaves, running away from our window, then my teacher yells at me, DONT YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN and I was thinking, B Please, some of us would be dead if I didnt and at that moment is when I knew I was two things. It was at that moment that I realized I can stay calm in dangerous moments AND I was not the type of person to FREEZE. I was very proud of myself! I just told Alexis this story and she said, Wow mom, did you get an award and I was like, I dont think the teacher told what happened, she probably would have been fired I guess I have always liked helping people.
