In 3rd species counterpoint it says no no to having consecutive octaves or fifths with only one note between them like in 2nd species (which would be a minim in 2nd species and a crotchet in 3rd species) but but but in 2 examples from my book i find consecutive octaves in 3rd species with only one note between them and i notice in each case its on the weak 4th and 2nd beat so is this allowed????? (ignore the 1 red note)
