In A Sand County Almanac, author Aldo Leopold was one of the first to write of land ethic. Leopold began his work at the turn of the last century and was a pioneer in the fledgling conservation movement. Through his power of observation and meditations on common experiences ranging from pine trees to duck hunting, he invited his students into questioning the right relationship between humankind and creation. As a pastor I have found that many do not understand or share our conviction for care of creation, nor that it is an essential aspect of the Christian witness. However, the Church is uniquely positioned to speak to re-ordering right relationship and bring healing when we find ourselves in a disordered state. This week I will be sharing some short observations of how and when I have come to recognize opportunities for healing or questioning my relationship to the created order. Shelby
