In Acts 17 Paul was at the temple debating the philosophers of his day. Paul stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus (sounds like the name of a few movie theaters I’ve been in) and said: “People of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious. 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. So you are ignorant of the very thing you worship—and this is what I am going to proclaim to you.” Paul “looked carefully” at the objects of worship. I believe that today some of us are called to look carefully at things in our culture so we can use them to bridge to the hope of Jesus Christ.
