In Ajuy, Iloilo, ADRA Philippines joined the commemoration of the anniversary of typhoon Haiyan in a community forum called “Isturhanay II” last November 12. Through sharing of narratives of survival and recovery, “Isturhanay II” aimed to provide a venue where leaders and community members can openly talk about their experiences with regard to post-Haiyan rehabilitation. It also aimed to promote greater transparency between the Local Government Units (LGUs) and the typhoon-affected communities. “Isturhanay” was first held in Estancia, Iloilo. Istaurhanay II involved representatives from the municipalities of Sara, Concepcion and Ajuy. LGU officials of each municipality were given the chance to present the development of their respective municipalities after typhoon Haiyan. Most of the presenters thanked the international community for their endless support to their community. It was also participated by the representatives from the Office of the Presidential Assistance for Rehabilitation and Recovery (OPARR). They entertained different queries during the open forum. The activity was initiated by the Accountability to Affected Populations Working Group. Aside from ADRA Philippines, other members of this group are UNOCHA, UNFPA, ACF, Handicap International, Save the Children, IOM, FAO, World Vision, Care.
