In August, we travelled up to Illinois with our friend and 4-time cancer survivor Mike Thompson to meet his bone marrow donor and best friend, Steve. (Video here: vimeo/109543850) They were complete strangers at the time, but Steve didnt hesitate to undergo the bone marrow donation procedure to save Mikes life when he was fighting leukemia at age 11. Today, Mike is cancer-free, an Ironman World Champion, and an advocate for the need for more bone marrow donors. As Mike says, he wouldnt be here if it werent for Steve.
