In Dakini Power, Sangye Khandro says, I have the greatest devotion for Dudjom Rinpoche’s consort, Sangyum Kusho Rigdzin Wangmo, who is one of my root teachers. She was Dudjom Rinpoche’s source of everything, giving Rinpoche the energy he needed to benefit sentient beings. As a wisdom dakini, she extended his life. As an aristocrat, she is very proper and formal, completely unique. She always looks immaculate, very beautiful and feminine, wearing finest jewels and silks. She has been in retreat for many years, upstairs in a brownstone in the middle of New York City, in this one room with one window. She never goes out. Any ordinary person such as me would go crazy. Enlightened beings don’t have a self like we do, so they can be a lot more at ease. If there is any woman on the planet who I admire most and want to be like, it’s her. The Venerable Sangyum passed away last night in New York. It truly feels like an era is ending.
