In Deuteronomy 26: 12-19, after the the Israelites announce that they have appropriately shared the abundance with which God has blessed them with those less fortunate, and that they have observed all Gods commandments with all their hearts and souls, they ask their God to continue to look upon them and bless them. In this manner they show themselves to be a people particularly Gods own, a people sacred to the Lord their God. What today might stand in the way of our honestly repeating Israels confident confession? Lord, grant that our way of life might increasingly reflect what it means to be part of a people particularly your own and sacred to you. Today let us pause several times and ask ourselves how are we observing all Gods commandments with all our hearts and souls.
