In Duluth the crew of Heritage Marine are breaking out the tug Nels J.. Even a V-16, 2000 horse-power ice-breaking monster needs a little wiggle room to get started. The drilling is revealing that the ice around the tug is 4 feet deep! Heritage purchased the Nels J. out of a scrap yard in a Texas Harbor where she was waiting for the cutting torch.
