In Duluth the crew of Heritage Marine are breaking out the tug Nels J.. Even a V-16, 2000 horse-power ice-breaking monster needs a little wiggle room to get started. The drilling is revealing that the ice around the tug is 4 feet deep! Heritage purchased the Nels J. out of a scrap yard in a Texas Harbor where she was waiting for the cutting torch. She was a victim of Hurricane Katrina. The new owners took a anchor down with them, back when they went to pick her up, (her anchor had been lost in the hurricane). . . but they also got her running, and evicted a boat-load of cockroaches! On the way up the Mississippi, they had to get under a low bridge so she was loaded with 60 thousand gallons of water!
