In Episode 6 of “The Newsroom” this past summer, Jerry Santana, frustrated that his colleagues are hesitant to run the Genoa story (the American military’s supposed use of Sarin gas) says “You like this president. You trust him.” Of course the fictional Genoa did not happen. But we do trust the president. And the big winner of last week’s budget and debt standoff was Barack Obama.
