In Exodus the Lord instructs Moses in the construction of the Tabernacle, which was where God would live among his people. And everything in the construction was very precise. And since this was during Israels 40 years of wandering the tabernacle was a mobile unit, to be set up and taken down as the traveled or camped. And in Numbers we learn, too, this also had a very precise methodology about it. First in Numbers we read of the tribal marching order of Israel, as in who goes first till who brings up the rear, and the Levites are always to be in the middle carrying the things of the Tabernacle. Now here it is interesting to note, while the Tabernacle is set up and in use only the High Priest, Aaron, or a descendant can enter the Holy of Holies. Other intruders will be put to death by God. And even then the High Priest could only enter at prescribed times, doing prescribed duties, or he too would die. So he wore bells when he went in. So the Koathites were the sub clan of the Levites to carry the articles of the Holy of Holies when traveling. They were not a High Priestly order. They were never allowed to go in to the Holy of Holies when it is set up, and the penalty of death was assured them if they did. But they had to carry these articles. How? Well, Aaron and his sons had to fisrt go in and prepare the all for travel. The articles all had to be laid out for travel in a very precise way, and also covered up in a very precise way. And Numbers 4 says, the Koathites must not see the articles or they will die. You ever read that life was simpler long ago? Sounds like a great deal of pressure and stress to me. Precision went into every detail and death was the penalty for not stepping up to the mark. And we groan about Monday mornings!! This was in addition to keeping all the various sacrifices in appropriate manner, also a precise procedure. Though the Koathites could not enter into the Holy of Holies as a sub clan of the Levites, as is for all the Levites, they had tabernacle duties they rotated on and off of. Why share this story now? I feel most do not realize the extent of what all Jesus did. And I am most sure that very much includes me. But I want to more and more realize as I read through the Bible each time. Now in John 8 we read, He whom the Son has set free is free indeed. Again, I think many never realize the depth of the statement. Nor could we really fathom the full extent of it all. But I think we should try. Every rule and regulation in the Old Testament, every sin and idol, every superstition, every injustice, every captivity, every fall of the flesh, all these things we read of in the Old testament are very much things included in that John 8 statement. And we find Paul many times addressing it in Churches like the one at Corinthians or Galatia. Jesus sacrifice was the single most liberating thing that could happen to anyone. There is no other name under Heaven by which man can be saved. And there can be no relationship worth having if one requires the other to jump through all kinds of hoops to please them, and so intimacy is out. Esther was a queen in a Persian Kings court, and yet, she did not feel she had intimacy with the king. When her Uncle told her to go to the king, she said she would, but that if he did not hold his scepter out toward her that she could die. What, had the command of her own husband. Them who the Son has set free is free indeed. Is that you? John 14:6
