In God We Trust didnt appear on US coinage until 1864 after some Pennsylvania clergy got hold of Salmon Chase (Treasury Secretary), and thereafter was used in striking some denominations and designs of coins, and not others. It didnt appear on currency until 1957, a year after becoming our official motto, replacing the unofficial (since 1782) E pluribus unum (From the many, one). I like that one. I know many of you prefer a less collective approach to your political business while putting faith first but as I say, I like the one that they liked. Typical Liberal.
