“In India, China and many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing in the world today because of this so-called “gendercide”.” It’s a Girl explores the implications of the gender imbalance in India and China, asking why this is happening and what is, or isn’t, being done to stop it. With an introduction from Maria Jaschok, director of International Gender Studies at Lady Margaret Hall, and to raise awareness for International Day of the Girl, the Oxford Women for Women International Society invites you to open your eyes to the harsh realities taking place in these countries at our screening of It’s a Girl. £3 entry charge - proceeds will go directly to WfWI.
