In India, Cricketers are undoubtedly larger than life and no one has the audacity to sack. So it was really up to Dhoni to give up test captaincy and even think of retiring from it altogether if he continued to fail to produce results. It made no sense to self-inflict wound after wound on his image and legacy which was at its peak when India won the World Cup 2011. Theres no doubt in my mind that Dhoni is one of the most uncanny specimen to have ever led a cricket team even in the test format because he had already made ODI and the T20 format his own. Dhoni always appeared impressively calm under extreme pressure but to suggest he was a great Test captain is...you know? Anyways, MS has given us some key moments in the test format to cherish for the rest of our lives like being ranked the No.1 Test side in the world at one point, or be it winning a Test at Lords, he has truly lived up to the tag A small town boy can not only dream big but achieve.
