In Jeremiah 23:28 we read, “The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat saith the Lord?” The Christian church must promote the Bible as the infallible and inspired Word of God, if it entertains any hope of discharging it’s obligation to this perishing world! Therefore the church must experience a revival of sound authority’s Biblical proclamation. We must have a new visitation of God! This will happen as we return again to solid expository preaching. With emphasis on the integrity of the Bible, and our authority being the Word of God, not Freud or Plato. Taking the world again by storm, as ‘They’ did back then? It can happen! It must happen! It will happen! And we have every reason to believe that it will happen! There is “a cloud the size of a man’s hand,” the man of God said. We must pray and expect that cloud of blessing to increase in measure, until the showers of blessing begin to fall. With the hymn writer let us begin to confess in faith, that there “Shall be showers of blessing. Oh, that today they might fall! Oh, to see a restored confidence in the Word of God! The early Church after Pentecost had what can only be described as an unflinching and uncompromising confidence in the Holy Scriptures. One only needs to listen to Peter as he expounds the Scriptures with an unparalleled confidence and authority, on the day of Pentecost. The results are a confirmation of this analysis. The results were predictable. The combination of the Word preached with authority and in the power of the Holy Spirit will bring such results today! - Dr. Duane F. Steeves
