In July I was part of a group that rented a house via VRBO. The place was in terrible condition and other than attempting to mediate VRBO is offering nothing in the way of compensation despite insurance being taken out through them. The house had not been cleaned, mouse feces everywhere, old expired food, a live mouse in the kitchen, sheets and towels unwashed, trash cans full. I personally had to clean, vacuum and do about ten loads of laundry before the rest of our party arrived for a family reunion. VRBO does not seem to monitor the standards of cleanliness of the properties they promote. Shame on them. The property owner is uncommunicative despite admitting in writing that his cleaners had failed to show up and offering a refund which he is now unwilling to pay. I fully expect this post to be removed but maybe someone will see it in the meantime.
