Heres the description: Youre Invited to a FREE training event being offered by Liberty Hill Foundation’s Wally Marks Leadership Institute as part of our Commissions Track training program. What: State Commissions 101: Appointments and Advocacy on California State Commissions Workshop. Who: Panelists Mona Pasquil, Appointments Secretary in the Office of Governor Jerry Brown; Connie Galambos Malloy and Cynthia Dai, current members of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission; and Michele Siqueiros, current member of the California Student Aid Commission. When: Wednesday, July 23 at 6 pm Where: Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic at 3787 S. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90007. Why: The State Commissions 101 training is designed to support current and future California State Commissioners interested in participating in public decision-making and policy-making for building equity in low income communities and communities of color. The training is also appropriate for community advocates who are interested in building power for their communities by working strategically with appointed commission decisionmakers and public agency staff.
