In Love with Love Letters I am not a play person by any means - TopicsExpress

In Love with Love Letters I am not a play person by any means and I’m the first to admit that if offered a musical or a play, I’ll take the musical every single time. And then I got invited to Love Letters with my fiance. The premise was simple – Carol Burnett on stage next to Brian Dennehy (yes, the dad from Tommy Boy – how cultured am I that that’s where I recognized him from). Sitting at a table reading letters that they wrote each other starting at age 7 throughout their life. While the early letters were simple (e.g. do you like me?) over time they got more and more intricate. I left the 90 minute show, thinking it was fantastic, and it was certainly a conversation piece – I spent the next hour discussing my thoughts on it with my fiance. What’s interesting about the show is that the cast changes every few weeks, and according to the director, every time you see it, it’s like seeing it with fresh eyes – even when Brian Dennehy was in it a few weeks prior with Mia Farrow, their portrayal of the characters were so different. If you want to see the show, you can get discount codes here – tickets start at $59. The cast over the next few months features: Candice Bergen /Alan Alda – November 9 – December 18 Diana Rigg / Stacy Keach – December 19 – January 9 Anjelica Huston / Martin Sheen – January 10 – February 15 Disclosure: I received complimentary tickets to Love Letters.
