In Loving Memory of Daryle Clayton “Maestro - TopicsExpress

In Loving Memory of Daryle Clayton “Maestro Extraordinaire From the beginnings of his music ministry at the tender age of three in Idabel, Oklahoma, to Oklahoma City, to Texas, to Virginia, to New York and the “Color Purple” Tony Award Winning Broadway Stage production, Daryle Clayton was the prodigy child of the widely acclaimed music instructor, Ms. Anna Clayton of Idabel, Oklahoma. A melodious voice that could parallel Luther Vandross, Daryle’s consummate vocal and instrumental skills were breathtaking and magical. My first close up and personal “Magical” exposure to the Daryle Clayton experience came when he accompanied me singing “My Tribute” for the invitational song at Tabernacle Baptist Church this past Mother’s Day— May 11, 2014. Daryle’s playing coaxed me to an exceptionally inspiring performance that day: It was my 62nd Birthday! The song was in tribute to all Mothers, but especially my Mother, Wanda F. Johnson, who I first met 62 years ago on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1952! Through his musical interpretation, Daryle encouraged me and all children gathered that day—i.e., everyone—to give thanks to God for our Mothers! On a more recent occasion—my second time experiencing the incomparable magic that was Daryle Clayton—he played and sang in Lawton OK at the Oklahoma Baptist State Convention Christian Education Conference Opening Night Musical. As we talked in the vestibule following the program while he sold CDs, I actually got the chance to tell him how much I enjoyed and appreciated his talent and consummate piano playing skill. A good friend blessed me with a copy of his CD. The State of Oklahoma, the nation and world will long cherish the talent and unmistakable musicianship that is Daryle Clayton, his insatiable passion and desire to make music right, and the encouragement that shone through to others through his music. Although gone too soon, Daryle Clayton you have earned your Wings. Fly high amidst the musical chords that you created for all to enjoy for posterity. Rest In Peace and Love. youtu.be/M2T2nLrKiNI
