In March of 1967, the Cuban Air Force attempted to shoot down a UFO resulting in the destruction of a Cuban MIG-21 and the lost of one of their pilots. The intire incident was monitored by the 6947th Security Squadron based at Boca Chica Naval Air Station near Key West, Florida, as well as being monitored by a NRO (National Recon Office) Satellite. The 6947th forwarded a "SPOT" Report to the NSA as required but the NSA never responded as having recieved the "SPOT" Report which they were required to do. Why? Simple, the NRO took qperational control of all the data, did the analysis of that data and turned over the finalized intelligence product (4 reports) given to that agency, that even to this day remains unknown and highly classified. The classification was, you guessedit; TOP SECRET/G//SI/TK/BYEMAN//NOFORN and those reports remain classified as stated above. The NRO knows the name of that agency, the existence of those reports and is not required by law to acknowledge anything. Please note, the U.S. Air Force went from the information was classifed and then, upon appeal, they stated they had no record of the incident. This would have been true, as by this time only the NSA and NRO had any records.
