In March2014 I used my entire savings $6800.00 and got 2004 Honda Pilot from Balkum Auto Sales in Wilmington. I had to finance $3400.00 of the remaining amount. I made sure all maintenance was performed on time and properly to my truck. My trucks transmission is broken. I was driving and it quit moving forward. It was as if it was in neutral. The RPMs will rev up but it wont move forward. If I sit still and its left in drive that idol will feel like its dropping down a little and then it will pop into gear kind of loud in the truck will jerk and then it will go forward but it wont stay in drive for long. There was no indication that I had a problem with my transmission. My transmission fluid is perfectly clear and its not burnt up. It will going into reverse. Theres no codes that come up on it no lights no indicators. The transmission made no noise. When it doesnt wanna go into gear I cant get the gear shifter to go beyond drive...as in...I cant put it in D3, 2 or 1. The Stevenson Honda dealership’s repair center advised me that I need to replace my transmission and that there wasnt any recalls that caused this problem. My truck has 118,000 miles on it. Stevenson said it will cost $3000.00. Cottman Transmissions says that when it heats up the torque converter and gears pull apart and it is causing my transmission to fail. They are $2100. I am a single mother, in college full time. Over the last 11 years, four of my three daughters have been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. My Honda Pilot is my only transportation, I cant even to take my girls to their doctor appointments. If they were to have a diabetic emergency I wouldn’t have any way to take them to the doctor or to the Emergency Room. I do not have any family or friends around here. If I dont get my truck fixed I am scared I am gonna lose everything I have invested into the truck but I am really scared I am gonna have to drop out of college, lose this semester and lose my federal financial aid from my Pell Grant and lose being able to go to college all together. I received a scholarship for $650.00 towards this repair because I get really good grades, I try really hard and I am a veteran. I cant afford to deal with this kind of repair and if I start taking out loans at 29% interest to try and fix it and the warranty is only good for 2 years or 24 months. My loan is for 30 months, I worry that I will end up in another bad situation. The previous did prevented maintenance like the timing chain and I have already put tires, 2 alignments and a air or fuel intake sensor..something that was 200.00. So may repairs since March over 700.00 plus monthly payments plus my down payment. I am out of money to put into this truck!! I thought Honda was supposed to run forever!! I really really need some good advise right now!! If someone could offer some good advise I would appreciate it.
