In Matthew 23:4, Jesus said about the Pharisees, Instead of giving you Gods Law as food and drink by which you can banquet on God, they package it in bundles of rules, loading you down like pack animals. They seem to take pleasure in watching you stagger under these loads, and wouldnt think of lifting a finger to help. There are a lot of Christians who feel the need to always say something when they see other Christians doing or saying something wrong, and it usually starts with something like it is written. But when we feel the need to say something to another brother or sister whos doing something wrong, we need to ask ourselves, are we giving them Gods law as food and drink, or are we taking a whole bunch of thou shalts and thou shalt nots, packing them in heavy bundles and dropping it on their shoulders? Ive noticed that the majority of the time its the latter. Very few Christians know how to offer Gods word as food and drink to those who have fallen into some sin. To offer it in a way that builds up and encourages, not the other way around. And I think part of the problem could be that many Christians have this mentality that man was created for the law. As if God created man so that there would be someone to obey His law, but that is not what it is, the law is for man, God gave us the law to improve our lives, to ensure our happiness and our peace, and those who choose to disobey the law, are only choosing fear sorrow pain and ultimately their own destruction.
