In Matthew 6:28,29: Jesus in encouraging work wants us to know that, The lilies of the field do what God prepared them to do. They draw nutrients and moisture from the soil and distribute these to the leaves and blossoms. They do not sit on the hillside, worrying about whether the nutrients and moisture will be sufficient, or whether they might be plucked up and used for fuel. Nevertheless, Jesus said that “Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these [flowers of the field]” (KJV). Jesus was ready to make His point: “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?” (v. 30a). Once again, Jesus’ argument was from the lesser to the greater: If God clothes the grass of the field which is thrown into the furnace [the lesser], will He not much more clothe you [the greater]? The Lord was emphasizing the truth that worry is inconsistent with being a child of God.
