In Memory of Sammie About 10yrs ago my daughter Amy called and said, Mom, I have a cat for you. Something very odd for any of my kids to say to me, since on more than one occassion I have been referred to as the crazy cat lady. I admit that yes I have always held a fondness for cats, especially one who needed a home. But at this time it had only been a few months since I had said goodbye to my sweet Buddie (Garfields twin) and I just wasnt ready for another fur baby. Well as usual God knew more about what I needed and when than I did. So a couple of days later Amy has talked me into coming and getting this cat that one of her downstairs neighbors had decided to move and leave outside to fend for himself in the dead of winter. So Blakey and I head over to Amys and as we head up the stairs here is this little black stud muffin waiting to greet us. He was so sweet and loving with the loudest purr. He followed us to Amys door and lays down on the mat as if to say Go visit and I will wait for you here. Only when we get ready to leave he is no where in sight. We look and call with no results until I open my car door to get Blake buckled in his carseat then in he jumps, like ok Im ready to go. He laid there and loved on Blake all the way back to the house. When we got there he went right on in as if he had been there forever. From that day on he has gone to bed at night when I go and slept on the right corner of my bed. And every morning when my alarm goes off he gets up on the pillow next to my face as if to say Good morning Mom and get his morning love. Thus began this relationship with my beautiful Sammie. This morning was the last morning I will get to have his good morning snuggles. My heart is breaking tonight because I had to say goodbye to him tonight. I know in my heart it was best for him. Now he is in heaven with no more pain and sickness. We always talk about the people who will meet us at the pearly gates but tonight I think Sammie has been met by some very special ones of his own. Our beautiful Ms. Brandywine, Ms. Jeremy (lovingly known as Grandma) and Buddie, only a few of my precious pets I have been blessed to have had in my life. And I know they will all be there to welcome me one day. Rest in peace my sweet Samsam.
