In Mexico, many of us have a cistern. This is a large tank of water either on the roof of the house or underground which fulls up with water from the city. This is our reserve of water when the water gets shut off by the city. Throughout the aftermath of hurricane Odile, our running water was not working for us because a pump is required to pump the water out of the cistern and it runs on electricity. So, when we have no electricity, we have no running water. My electricity has been restored and so I have running water. The problem now is that my cistern is not getting full anymore. It is nearly empty! My neighbors told me there is a broken pipe that they are working on. I am afraid I will run out of water so I have stopped doing laundry (lots of things to wash after a hurricane!) and I am using as little water as possible. We are getting lots of rain here in Cabo today and coming up this weekend. Hopefully we will not be flooded too severely again. Please continue sending us your positive vibes! We need you! May we all see the light!
