In Momma I Made It news, Dinner With Bevy & Dining with Bevy - Life With Vision are a part of a New York Times Styles Section article! Seven years ago I created “Dinner With Bevy” out of sheer NECESSITY, (Plato didnt lie when he said it was the MOTHER of INVENTION). However, DWB has not only given me money (crucial to being able to have luxuries like eat and pay bills) but it’s also given me OPPORTUNITIES. It’s because of DWB that I have a myriad of relationships with celebrities, which fuels my tv hosting work. I’ve hosted dinners for Kerry Washington, Idris Elba, Pharrell, T.I. and my guest lists have included Charlize Theron, George C. Wolfe, Cameron Diaz, Katherine Bigelow (1st female director to win an Oscar) and ANITA HILL (I GAGGED). It’s always lovely when you have an IDEA and see it manifest, BLOOM into something that you didn’t even imagine when you set out! Today with “Dinner With Bevy” and my PASSION PROJECT “Dining With Bevy – Life With Vision” being featured in a NEW YORK TIMES article, Im just elated. Im especially jazzed because the piece is about people who host “I.R.L. “In Real Life” dinner parties, in an effort to foster connections between people versus connecting via social media. I’m so elated to be a part of the article for many reasons, but I really HOPE that it will serve as INSPIRATION for my “LWV” alumni and well wishers! I hope that you will read the article and see that there are lots of people out there who have an “unorthodox” idea, an idea that many would question “but how do you get paid?” and yet WE’VE all found a way to make money doing what we LOVE. Everyone in the piece is led by a DESIRE to connect people and to foster relationships. Dinner With Bevy is about connecting celebrities and brands, that’s my shiny, fabulous work! However, “Life With Vision” is my baby, my HEART. With “LWV” I know that I’m doing the good work, I see it from the emails I receive when you give me updates on your projects or when I hear that you found a “Co-Conspirator” at the event. I’m so THANKFUL that I ran out of money and was FORCED to figure out another revenue stream (EVERYTHING IS AS IT SHOULD BE)….out of that STRUGGLE I manifested my PASSION, I’m truly LIVING my LIFE WITH VISION! nytimes/2014/10/02/fashion/the-irl-social-clubs.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&version=HpSectionSumSmallMedia&module=pocket-region®ion=pocket-region&WT.nav=pocket-region&_r=0
